This site has been built using guidelines on code compliance for web standards issued by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). It should display correctly in most current browsers, but has been tested to work on the following computer operating systems and their browser versions:

Hidden at the top of every page is a 'skip to main content' link. This link is spoken by assistive technology, such as screen reading software, and will become visible when tabbed to. By selecting this link users will enter the main content of the page and will not have to listen to any menu items.

Access keys are keyboard shortcuts for users who may have difficulty in using a pointing device such as a mouse. The access keys in use on this website are listed below:

Changing text size

In addition to using the on-site controls, you can make the text larger or smaller by changing the settings on your browser. To do so, follow the instructions below:

Internet Explorer: Go to the 'View' menu at the top of the browser window. Select 'Text size' and choose whether you would like the text to be larger or smaller. Alternatively, if you have a mouse with a scroll-wheel, hold down the 'Control' key (Ctrl) on your keyboard and use the mouse scroll-wheel to change the text size.

Mozilla Firefox: Go to the 'View' menu at the top of the browser window. Select 'Text size' and select 'Increase' or 'Decrease' to go one size up or down.

Other browsers: For other browsers, please check the menus at the top of your browser window to find the text size controls.

Changing screen resolution

On PCs (running Windows 95 and above): Go to the 'Start' button, then select 'Settings', then 'Control Panel', then 'Display', then 'Settings'. Select to change the desktop area by using the resolution sliding bar. We recommend a resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels or greater. We suggest a minimum resolution of no less than 800 by 600 pixels.

Adjusting mouse and keyboard settings

You can fine-tune your mouse and keyboard settings (for example, to change the number of mouse clicks required to open a new window)

On PCs (running Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP and above): Click on the 'Start' button for your computer, then select 'Settings', followed by 'Control Panel', and then 'Accessibility'

On Apple Macs: Click on the 'System Preferences' button the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, then select 'Keyboard & Mouse'.

Conformance information

Our website conforms to XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS 2.1. This ensures that the web pages and CSS conform to the highest specifications ensuring maximum compliance with assistive technologies and web browsers. The conformance also aims to ensure a smoother experience for seafarers on low bandwidth satellite communications, so we are keen to hear of any issue you discover when accessing the website at sea.

Exceptions

Whilst Nautilus Welfare Fund strives to adhere to the accepted guidelines for accessbility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website.
